   1. a traditional unit of work, equal to the work done by a force of one pound acting through a distance of one foot. This is equivalent to approximately 1.355 818 joule, 1.285 07 x 10-3 Btu, or 0.323 832 (small) calorie.
   2. another name for the traditional unit of torque also known as the pound foot.
