milliparsec
(mpc)
   a unit of distance in astronomy equal to 0.001 parsec.
   Used in studying crowded parts of the universe such as globular clusters and galactic centers, the milliparsec is equal to about 206.265 astronomical units, 11.913 light days, or 30.8568 terameters (30.8568 x 109 kilometers or 49.6486 million miles).
