   a metric unit of force equal to 0.01 newton.
   This unit has some popularity in engineering as a substitute for the gram of force (gf), since it equals about 1.019 72 gf (about 0.0360 ounces of force in the English system). In the textile industry, the breaking strength of fibers is commonly expressed in centinewtons per tex.
