gas permeation unit
(GPU)
   a CGS unit of gas permeance for membranes, contact lenses, and similar thin materials. Permeance is defined to be the gas flow rate through the material, per unit of area and per unit of pressure difference across the material. The unit is equal to 104 barrer per centimeter, or 10-6 cm·s-1·cmHg-1, or, in SI units, 7.5005 x 10-16 m·s-1·Pa-1.
